  4. You will have time in class on Wednesday to work on your poem; final poems due Thursday

  2. Finish listening to “How to Make Dialogue Ring True”; take notes

  1. Writing Practice: Write about a confession
  2.  Brainstorm: What do you know about dialogue?
  3. Listen to “How to Make Dialgoue Ring True”
  4. Take Notes
  5. Short Story #2–final draft due Tuesday with copy of rough draft
  6. Short Story #3–rough draft due Thursday
    1. Using “Best American First Sentences,” choose an opening line to use for your short story. Use the sentence as it appears.
    2. Create a short story based off that opening
    3. Story must include 15 lines of dialogue

  3. Hand out rubric for final response to lit–choose one of your three responses to lit. to edit and revise. It is due typed, with the rubric and the three rough drafts (war poem, song of social change, song of your choice) on Tuesday.

    2. typed, Times or Courier
    3. double-spaced

Creative Writing:

  1. Writing Practice: Write about trash
  2. Short Story #2 read around–read and comment on two other’s short stories, looking specifically for plot
  3. Quick write about dialogue–what do you know about it?

  1. AAW essay analysis:
    1. Read 2 samples of an A paper
    2. Explained how essays were graded (biggest mistake was not including literary reference, which brought essay down to a D)
    3. Looked at own paper, identified 3 ways to improve
    4. Retakes for this essay will be given Wednesday and Thursday of next week ONLY!
