  2. Take notes based on handout and complete one-pager at the end of movie DPS movie notes guide
  3. WW#3 due tomorrow!
  4. Socrates Cafe due Friday!

Creative Writing:

  1. Writing Practice: February taught me
  2. Read The Lady or the Tiger Lady or the Tiger
  3. Write the ending to the story. Must be at least one page, handwritten. Due Friday.
  4. Final ss#1 due Friday, typed!

  1. Exam analysis

Creative Writing:

  1. Writing Practice: I awoke this morning feeling
  2. Go over Tips for Writers from Monday.
  3. Create story montage (get notes from a friend). Using at least one item from each of the three sections (character, setting and conflict) write a short story. This is a rough draft and will be due sometime next week. Get a start on it!

  1. Writing Practice: The first time
  2. Read Tips 8-10 on handout. Using short story #1, brainstorm alternative climaxes and resolutions for your story. Take notes on the back of your story. Completed, edited, revised and typed story is due Friday. Ten Tips

  2. Read “Spinning Wheels”, discuss
  3. Read chapter on Plot in handout–take 10 notes
  4. Bring your short story to class tomorrow
  5. Field Work due tomorrow with write up:
    1. What did you do?
    2. How did you do it?
    3. How will it affect you as a writer?
    4.  Should be at least 1/2 a page!

  1. Turn in Art Expo project proposal (all projects must be approved prior to being graded. If you change your idea for your project after your proposal has been submitted, then you must re-submit a new proposal.)
  2. F451 DYR #6
  3. Songs of Social Change intro–answer the following questions”
    1. Why is music important?
    2. Is music a mirror or catalyst of society?
    3. Does today’s music have a message?  Explain.

Creative Writing:

  1. Writing Practice: You hear bells in the distance
  2. Love letters: write a letter or poem about love, to someone whom you love (or like) about the pain of love, lost love, etc. Be prepared to post your writing tomorrow around school.

  2. With a partner, complete the first four squares of the F451 storyboard. Use color and detail, and make sure your 4 pictures represent the most important events in Burning Bright thus far.  Burning Bright Storyboard

Creative Writing:

  1. Writing Practice: Write about a wild-eyed dream
  2. Character Postcard: Using the information you gleaned from your virtual trip, create a postcard (both front and back side) to send to your character pen-pal. Allude to something that happens to your character while on his trip, i.e., “The hospital isn’t so great when I could be out surfing Costa Brava”, insinuating that the character broke his leg or had some medical issue while on va-cay.
  3. Postcard due Wednesday.
  4. Collected updated character bios!

American Studies:

  1. Writer’s Workshop Read Around: Read 3 Responses to Lit. by other classmates, chose the one that was the best and discussed why. Edited and revised our own Response to Lit by looking at what made the best papers work and tried to incorporate that into our own writing.
  2. Homework–read F451 to page 154.

Creative Writing:

  1. Writing Practice: Write about a river.
  2.  Debriefed about Dave Rolland’s visit
  3. Discussed Edda Submissions–all students in this class must submit 1 piece to the EDDA. Applications available in class or right here!  EDDA submission cover sheet
  4. Character Bios (10 paragraphs total) due Friday. Remember to write about the inner life!
  5. Passed out character pen-pal letter #2.
  6. Consider what will happen to your character on his/her trip. We will use this info. for an activityFriday.
